Second half 19th century, the tea caddy in rosewood veneers with brass lobed riveted mounts, arched form opening to twin lidded compartments (4 3/4 x 8 x 4 1/2 in.); the compendium in figured wood veneers, likely ash or elm, barrel vaulted form with brass quatrefoil mounts opening to a divided interior with pen tray and ink bottle (6 1/4 x 8 3/4 x 4 3/4 in.).
