England, mid- to late 19th century, after Sir Francis Chantrey's (British, 1771-1832) 1828 bust of Scott, parian bisque porcelain, includes carved slate pedestal with bronze mounts, bust impressed "COPELAND" and "COPYRIGHT / RESERVED" to posterior at base and "K" to underside, pedestal marked "9194" and with incised letters no longer visible under bronze mounts to underside.
Bust 13 1/2 x 12 x 6 in.; pedestal 3 x 11 1/4 x 9 1/2 in.
Pedestal not original to sculpture, likely removed from original parian socle; sculpture not secured to pedestal; a few scattered surface marks to sculpture, mainly at base; chip to pedestal corner.
