A self-taught artist, William Foreman began painting while serving with the RAF in Gibraltar, inspired and encouraged by Scottish painter Ian McNab. He went on to become celebrated for his bold palette-knife landscapes, whose textured, luminous surfaces capture both the physical and atmospheric qualities of place. His work was widely exhibited in the U.K. and is held in numerous private collections.
