Chapel Hill–based watercolorist David L. Stickel is celebrated for his intricate representational paintings of reflections, particularly windows and storefronts that reveal layered interior and exterior narratives. His work, inspired by North Carolina as well as travels through Africa, China, Europe, and the U.S., has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in private collections worldwide. Stickel is a member of both the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.
