Born in Pinehurst, North Carolina, William “Bill” Mangum has established himself as one of the state’s leading landscape artists. He holds a BFA and MFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and launched Carey-Mangum Gallery (now William Mangum Fine Art) in 1982. Using palette knives and layers of color, his work spans coastal, mountain, architectural, and urban subjects, and he has published books, created limited edition prints, and exhibited widely. Mangum is also known for his philanthropic “Honor Card” program, which annually donates original artwork to support homelessness and affordable housing in North Carolina.
