1930s-40s, stoneware lidded cracker jar in Chinese White glaze with dual lug handles, marked with Jugtown Ware pottery stamp to underside, base labeled "Wilkinson Collection #189."

9 3/4 x 8 1/4 in.

Formerly in the Wilkinson Collection. Ray Wilkinson (1925-2004) was a pioneering farm broadcaster for Capitol Broadcasting Company in Raleigh, NC. He started a daily report for tobacco farmers, the Tobacco Radio Network, that reached a wide Southeastern audience; however, he is still best known for his comedy sketches surrounding fictional eastern North Carolina characters, Cecil and Leonard.
