Private Collection of a Lady, Asheville, North Carolina Jimmy Lee Sudduth was one of the forerunners of Southern self-taught art, using his fingers to paint with combinations of organic materials and paint. Sudduth's work is included in the collections of many American museums. In 2005, the Birmingham Museum of Art featured a one-man exhibition. His painting,
Self Portrait with Banjo, is on view at the Smithsonian Luce Foundation Center.
