Paul Strisik was born in Brooklyn, New York, and after serving in the US Navy during World War II, he studied at the Art Students League under Frank Vincent DuMond before settling in Rockport, Massachusetts, where he established his studio and the Strisik Gallery. Known for his plein air and studio work in both oil and watercolor, he built his reputation on New England coastal views, scenes of the American Southwest, and European landscapes.
Over the course of his career, he earned more than 200 awards, held membership in institutions such as the National Academy of Design and the American Watercolor Society, and authored influential instructional books including,
The Art of Landscape Painting and
Capturing Light in Oils.
