Probably Virginia, late 18th century, yellow pine secondary, dovetailed case, slant lid with molded edge, loper supports, divided interior with seven drawers with full dust boards, the case with four graduated lipped drawers, shaped bracket foot base.

From the Collection of George Scott Shackelford, Roanoke, Virginia; by Descent of Martha Jefferson (daughter of Thomas Jefferson) and Virginia Travis Armistead of Williamsburg, Virginia Top with dark staining and patch near lock; slant lid with later horizontal board at hinge area; interior with several loose valances (most if not all in one of the drawers); drawer runners rebuilt; pulls are old and in the original holes (one missing bail, one detached but present); old but later feet.
