Jane Filer is an artist based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Born in California, her family moved to Western Australia when Jane was eleven. It was here that she first became acquainted with the ethereal artwork of the aboriginal people. The mystical nature of this culture made for a lasting impression and is still evident in the work she produces to date.

Filer eventually settled in North Carolina. She received her MFA from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. She was a favorite teacher at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro for many years before retiring in 2005. Her joyful paintings have been exhibited extensively throughout the country and are in many prominent public and private collections.
