One of the best books that LEC produced. "The photographs were made by Edward Weston in an extensive tour of democratic America taken by him for this purpose in the years 1941 and 1942" (from the colophon).
Areas of toning to boards (heaviest on spines and vol. 2), spine labels and a couple of corners with light wear; foxing to page edges; endpapers with spotting mostly along hinges (heaviest in vol. 2), with additional light spotting at some gutters; final introduction leaf possibly extended; occasional offsetting, minor mark, or spot of foxing, and endpapers and some leaves with mild toning, otherwise pages extremely clean; slipcase with significant wear. About very good volumes in fair to good slipcase.
