French Chatellerault Single Shot Naval Pistol

Dated 1842 on tang, walnut stock with brass hardware; the lockplate stamped Mre R de Chatellerault with maker's mark above; the butt stamped with a naval anchor, additional arsenal marks on the trigger guard and strap; fitted with lever operated ramrod.

A project pistol with potential. The hammer and ramrod are frozen; the hammer's thumb rest is also broken off, leaving a rough edge all around.
