Purvis Young worked with materials that he found, recycled, or otherwise constructed to create a narrative. Self-taught, his work is personal and direct, recording the struggles, the hopes, and the joys of his world, the inner city of Miami called Overtown. He has created many public commissioned murals around this area, and his work has been included in many exhibitions throughout the U.S. and abroad, including most recently at Palazzo Mora, Venice; the Met Museum in 2018; Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco in 2017; and numerous other prestigious exhibition venues.

General wear to the edges of the board, wrinkling to the paper.
