Signed Makonde Shetani Carved Wood Sculpture

Tanzania or Mozambique, Africa, second half 20th century, carved African blackwood (mpingo) to depict a Shetani (Swahili for "evil spirit"), signed "CHANUO?", possibly by Chanuo Maundu (African, 1930s-1994), mounted to rectangular wood plinth.

32 1/2 x 10 x 5 in.

Some splitting to wood at base; otherwise good estate condition.
