Frances Perkins (1882-1965) was appointed as Secretary of Labor by President Franklin W. Roosevelt, becoming the first female cabinet member in the U.S. She held this position for twelve years and during that time she played a significant role in social and labor reform through her work on the Social Security Act of 1935, the New Deal, and various other laws and programs. People at Work was the first of her two books.

Minimal wear to the binding including rubbing to spine ends; browning and scattered foxing at endpapers; small areas of wear to page edges; occasional spots of foxing and minor grime to the interior, with text pages overall extremely clean; jacket with some soiling, foxing, toning, the spine creased with a small damp stain, general edge wear with chips and tears (with heaviest chipping to corners and spine ends), and some losses to the back cover. A very good copy in a good plus jacket.
