Omar Hamdi Malva was born in Tal Nayif in the Al Hasakah region of Syria and later moved to Damascus, where he worked as a graphic artist and art critic. He relocated to Vienna in 1978, becoming an active member of the Austrian art community, gaining citizenship, and joining both the General Federation of Austrian Artists and the Künstlerhaus Wien.

Malva’s work is recognized for its expressive landscapes, still lifes, and village scenes, which reflect a blend of Middle Eastern roots and European impressionist influence.
