North Carolina Painted Blanket Chest

Attributed to Montgomery County, circa 1820, six board yellow pine dovetailed case with all over dark blue original painted surface, hinged lid with later butt hinges and applied molded trim, open till to the left side, distinctive applied bold high dovetailed bracket feet create a strong stance.

27 x 48 x 19.25 in., case width 45.5 in.

Later hinges with cut and patch repair; top with warp, wear and paint loss, shrinkage crack; missing clasp to underside of lid; wear and expected paint loss at feet.
