Tim Fortune is an American painter known for his landscapes focusing on the effects of water and light. Born and raised in the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York, he received a BFA from Tyler School of Art at Temple University and an MA in Studio Art from New York University. He studied in Italy for several years, living in Venice, and later pursued his career in Florida and New York. After 16 years away, Fortune returned to his native Adirondacks in 1994, setting up a studio and gallery in Saranac Lake where he has worked full time since 1988. His work is characterized by dramatic inner light and rich color, integrating experiences from Venice, Florida, and the Adirondacks.
