Five Tortoiseshell Boxes

19th to early 20th century, to include a pocket sewing kit with metal scissors, thimble, and needle case set in velvet lined interior and bone trim, scissors monogramed "HR"; (2) lined card cases with bone trim, one initialed "HR" to interior bone; a Victorian silver matchbox case with tortoiseshell inlay to top, London (1898), partially obscured maker's mark; and a red velvet lined dresser box.

Largest 2 3/8 x 7 1/2 x 5 3/8 in.

Sewing kit no longer with needle, scissors not original, possible later cloth lining to lid, clasp no longer closes completely; cracking to shell of one card case, lining likely later; matchbox case with light surface marks to shell; dresser box with later hinges and lining, several cracks to underside.
