Large Catawba Valley, North Carolina Ovoid Stoneware Jar

Third quarter 19th century, unsigned, approximately six gallon capacity, highly ovoid form with dual lug handles and semi flat rim, featuring a runny olive-green alkaline glazed surface.

16 3/4 x 14 1/2 x 14 1/2 in.

Crack to rim, branching downward across the edge of one handle; small glaze scrape to the other handle.
