John Lines is a celebrated British painter known for his masterful plein-air work, distinctive humor, and narrative scenes often featuring his trademark quirky figures and terrier. Trained at Rugby Polytechnic and the York School of Art, he brings everyday urban backstreets and the British countryside to life with clarity, wit, and an ability to “say all without painting everything.” His paintings are held in collections worldwide, and he has taught internationally. A member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, the Royal Society of Marine Artists, and President of the Kineton Art Society, he works primarily in oils and watercolour, aiming always to “paint life through honest eyes.”
