Miguel Antonio Bonilla is a self-taught painter, muralist, printmaker, and sculptor known for his expressive, often provocative imagery. Influenced by expressionism, surrealism, and pre-Columbian art, his work frequently addresses themes of social injustice, political violence, and human conflict through satire and dark humor.

Bonilla has exhibited internationally and is a founding figure in El Salvador’s contemporary art scene, having led the Association of Plastic Artists of El Salvador (ADAPES). His major series and public murals reflect the country’s historical struggles and remain central to his artistic legacy.
