Julian Barrow was an English artist born in Cumberland who spent most of his life in London. He studied in Florence and was an inveterate traveler, painting views of Europe, New York, the Middle East, and India. For more than thirty years, Barrow lived and worked in his studio on Tite Street in Chelsea, in the historic building once occupied by artists including John Singer Sargent, James McNeill Whistler, Glyn Philpot, and Augustus John. A frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy, Barrow also served as President of the Chelsea Arts Society.
