iginga figures significant to
Bwami cultural hierarchy, the first with arms outstretched and kaolin applied surrounding eyes (11 x 3 1/8 x 3 1/4 in.); the second with kaolin applied to face, with protruding belly, stylized hair, and a chain affixed to both ears (8 x 2 5/8 x 2 7/8 in.).
From the Collection of the late Robert and Judith Weston, Detroit, Michigan The taller with cracks to several areas, cannot be positioned upright; the shorter with a few chips to wood at posterior base.
