Linda Darty is a jewelry and enameling professor at East Carolina University, and founder/director of ECU Tuscany (formerly Italy Intensives) in Certaldo Alto, Italy. She studied enameling and metalwork at Penland School (1975–1981), earned an MFA in Metal Design at ECU, and has led ECU’s metal design program since 1990. She authored The Art of Enameling (Lark Books), exhibits internationally, and her work is in collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Museum of Arts and Design, Yale University Art Gallery, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, and the Crocker Art Museum. Honors include ECU’s Lifetime Achievement Award for research, the UNC Board of Governors Award for teaching excellence, and The Enamelist Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
