To include: a beaded brooch with black and white beads, completed with a silver backing and locking pin stem, stamped Sterling (3.25 in.); a pair of silver ball earrings suspending a long beaded cone in black, white, and gold-tone beads, completed with posts (2.75 in.); and a pair of beaded apricot acorn earrings, in black, green, blue, and orange beads, completed with silver cap and ear wire (2 in.).

Valerie Hector is a bead artist and metalsmith based in Wilmette, Illinois, active since 1989. Since 1995 she has maintained a part-time scholarly practice focused on Asian beadwork, particularly China, with publications in Beads: The Journal of the Society of Bead Researchers and Bead Forum, and contributions to the catalog Joyce J. Scott Messages (Arnoldsche, 2022). Her work includes series such as Cinnabar, Lattice, Confetti, Sinology, and Polygon Weave, and selected pieces addressing historical and cultural subjects. She is the author of The Art of Beadwork: Historic Inspiration, Contemporary Design (2005).
