Ivory Coast, late 19th to mid-20th century, (3) objects to include a Baule mask, likely a
mblo portrait mask with intricately carved coiffure and scarification (13 x 7 x 5 1/2 in.); a male figure with split beard and braids, likely a Baule
Blolo Bian (spirit husband) figure (8 3/4 x 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 in.); and a Baule painted mouse oracle in the form of a four footed vase with carved linework and bas-relief lizard and symbol to body, without lid (9 x 6 3/4 in.).
From the Collection of the late Robert and Judith Weston, Detroit, Michigan Mask with small areas of scuffing, two cracks to posterior at top and base of mask; spirit husband with loss to left foot, break and repair to right arm, small losses to left side of head; mouse oracle with dust soiling, crack running from underside of lip to base of vase body, some scattered scuffs, small nicks to rim.
