Walter Lofthouse Dean was an American painter best known for his refined landscapes, marine scenes, and architectural views. Born in New York City, he studied at the National Academy of Design and later worked in both New York and Paris, where he was influenced by European realism and tonalism. Dean exhibited regularly at major institutions including the National Academy of Design and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
