Peter Leventhal was an American painter, printmaker, and sculptor known for his narrative, figurative work rooted in classical traditions. Born in New York City, he studied at Columbia University and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris, developing his practice through close study of historic artworks.

Leventhal exhibited widely in the United States, Europe, and Mexico and later settled in San Miguel de Allende, where he continued to work despite Parkinson’s disease.
