Second half 19th century, unmarked, rosewood veneers, mahogany and deal secondary, of rectangular form with inlaid brass mounts, inlaid shaped brass key and lid escutcheons, opening to divided pen and ink compartments, magenta velvet writing service lifting to open storage.

Surface rubbing, scratches and nicks to veneers; a few minor shrinkage cracks; writing service with areas of surface wear.
