Budd Hopkins was an American painter and sculptor associated with postwar Abstract Expressionism. He studied art history at Oberlin College and was active in the New York art scene, exhibiting widely and earning a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1976. His work is held in major museum collections including the Whitney, MoMA, the Guggenheim, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In addition to his art career, Hopkins was widely known for his later work as a writer and researcher of UFOs and alien phenomena.
