Private Collection, Pinehurst, North Carolina Tsibi (or Itzchak) Tarkay was an Israeli painter renowned for his vibrant, figurative works that blend realism with impressionistic color and composition. Born in Yugoslavia and surviving the Holocaust, Tarkay later studied at the Avni Institute of Art in Tel Aviv, where he developed a distinctive style characterized by elegantly dressed women in introspective poses, set against richly textured, decorative backgrounds. His work reflects a masterful command of color, light, and form, often creating a serene, contemplative atmosphere. Tarkay’s paintings have been exhibited internationally and are highly sought after by collectors, establishing him as a prominent figure in contemporary Israeli art.
