Leobardo Huerta is a Mexican artist whose practice weaves memory, tradition, and contemporary experimentation. He studied graphic design at the Mexican Institute of Technical Studies, attended the School of Artistic Initiation (INBA), and completed engraving workshops at the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art and the Luis Cuevas Museum. Huerta is particularly known for intervening antique photographs with gouache, ink, pen, and collage, overlaying vintage portraits and social scenes to create a dialogue between past and present and to reimagine overlooked personal histories of everyday Mexicans. Exhibiting since 1998 in Mexico and internationally, his recent projects include the group exhibition Del Tianquiztli al mercado del arte contemporáneo (Taller Transversal, Mexico City, 2023) and the solo exhibition Origen (Oculto Showroom–Dharana, Colonia Roma, 2025), which explored reclaimed materials and ancestral pigments in reference to his Zapotec heritage.
