Likely Russian, 18th century tempera and gilt on panel depiction of St. John the Baptist, the name across the top Svyatuiy Ioann Predtecha — "Holy John the Forerunner," the saint depicted holding a scroll translating Pokaitesya, priblizhibosya tsarstvie nebesnoe — “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven has drawn near," with applied 19th century German .800 silver Latin cross votive, within a painted scrollwork border with applied repousse corner mounts.

Crack visible to central lower portion of panel; loss to one decorative corner plaque; areas of spotting and warping visible to verso; some scattered areas of paint loss with associated retouch.
