Russia or Eastern Europe, 19th century, tempera and gilt panels, both featuring Christ Pantocrator blessing from a heavenly cloud border above, the first icon depicting eight saints (top row from left to right: Holy Agafiya, Venerable Evdokiya (Eudocia), St. Aleksandr Nevskiy, Holy Evphrosiniya (Euphrosinia); bottom row from left to right: Venerable Andreyan (Adrian), Holy Apostle Peter, Holy Georgiy (George), Holy Kseniya (Xenia), within an ornate intertwining border (11 7/8 x 10 1/2 x 1 1/4 in.); the smaller with five male saints, the names now largely indecipherable, but probably depicting Saint Nikolas at center (7 1/4 x 7 1/4 x 1 1/4 in.).

Larger with chip to lower right corner; a few small areas of gilt rubbing and surface marks; small area of insect damage to verso; second with chipping along the perimeter and rubbing along the pictorial space, with scattered areas of later touch up.
