Soviet Union/Russia, mid- to late 20th century, lidded lacquer boxes with hand-painted and gilt designs depicting scenes of Russian folklore and red lacquer interiors, including (2) from Kholui (Холуй), one marked "Made in USSR" to underside (2 3/8 x 5 7/8 x 1 3/8 in.); (1) from Palekh (Па́лех), dated 1958, marked "Made in USSR" to underside (3 x 4 x 2 in.); (1) from Fedoskino (Федоскино), dated 1973 (5 1/4 x 3 1/2 x 1 3/4 in.); and (1) large box from Mstera (Мстера), with authenticity certificate (5 1/4 x 7 1/4 x 1 1/2 in.), all marked with title, region, and artist's names to lid.

Lazenby, Pittsboro, North Carolina One Kholui box with warping to interior lacquer; Palekh box with chip to right corner of lid; Fedoskino box with some cracking to lacquer at lid, some nicks and scratches to base, some warping to interior lacquer; Mstera box with allover cracking to lacquer.
