Late 19th century, including two arm chairs and ten side chairs, classic shield back form featuring a concave relief carved and pierced seat back, central relief carved Prince of Wales plume, molded stiles, over upholstered seats, molded tapered front legs with spade foot, down-swept rear legs.
Armchair 39 x 22.75 x 18 in., seat height 18 in., arm height 28 in.
From the Collection of Carol Hipps, Raleigh, North Carolina Frames and joints are generally tight; good estate condition; retaining a good old mellow patina.
Later upholstery with staining and wear; several chairs with tight hairline cracks to the shield back.
