Oil on canvas, signed "A. de Bylandt" at lower left, retaining ink inscribed label to verso, presented in an ornate giltwood frame.

Alfred de Bylandt was born in Brussels on October 14, 1829. He married Ann Charlotte Vokes, an Irishwoman, in London at St. Marylebone on June 12, 1852. In 1875, he was appointed Chamberlain to King Willem II of the Netherlands. Best known for his romantic landscape paintings, de Bylandt drew inspiration from his extensive travels across England, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, and North Africa, which enriched both his subject matter and artistic perspective.
Craquelure, some very minor fleabites, small patch to lower center (below stretcher) with associated retouch, minor aging to the frame.
