Lee Godie was an American self-taught artist associated with the Chicago Imagists and the broader field of outsider art. Born Jamot Emily Godee in Chicago, she began making and selling art in the 1960s on the steps of the Art Institute of Chicago. Godie created bold portraits of women, royalty, and celebrities, often incorporating handwritten inscriptions. Her work has been widely exhibited and collected and can be found in the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Some creasing to the canvas, not examined outside the frame.
