Mid-20th century, unsigned, the round red onyx terrace atop a conforming oak panel, framed within a substantial gilt bezel, raised on tripodal c-scrolled legs with X-form supports, each featuring a stylized lion mask and terminating in a paw footed round socle foot.

The design for these guéridon derives from bronze tables discovered during the excavation of Pompeii, which served as the inspiration for the 19th century versions created by important French maisons Henri Picard (f. 1831-1864) as well as Louis-Constant Sévin (1821-1888) for Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892).
Good estate condition; areas of spotting and tarnish to gilt; stone with some scratches and areas of fill restoration.
