From the Collection of the late James H. Lazenby, Pittsboro, North Carolina Vladimir “Volodia” Lazarev was a Russian-born painter and designer associated with the École de Paris. After leaving Russia in the wake of the Revolution, he settled in Paris, where he became part of the city’s vibrant community of émigré artists. Working amid the dynamic artistic climate of the interwar years, Lazarev developed a style influenced by modernist currents. In addition to painting, he was active in design and illustration, contributing to the broader cultural life of Paris.
