Early 18th century, carved wood with gesso, polychrome and gilt, unsigned, well-modeled statuettes of Bishops depicted in mitres and flowing priestly attire, holding text and crozier, both raised on conforming serpentine bases, with later labels to the underside.
Each approximately 16 1/4 x 7 x 5 in.
From the Collection of the late James H. Lazenby, Pittsboro, North Carolina Scattered paint and gilt flaking, with areas of painted touch up; areas of old insect damage; age crack to the reverse of beardless bishop; staffs with possible repairs to tops, but present well.
