Veronica Maria Herwegen-Manini was a German painter from Munich, trained by her father and with Wilhelm von Lindenschmit the Younger. She was among the relatively few women artists of the late 19th century to specialize in architectural scenes and vedute, which were highly sought after by tourists and collectors in Italy. Her paintings captured the vibrant life of cities such as Rome, Venice, and Naples, portraying bustling urban scenes within grand architectural settings. Her paintings were exhibited at prestigious venues, including the Munich Glaspalast, the Amsterdam World’s Fair, and London exhibitions.
The painting has been lined, with age cracking and minute professional retouch.
