English, oil on mahogany panel with beveled edge, 19th century painted after a pair of 17th-century portraits, unsigned, presented in ebonized frames within gilt frames with spandrels with composition ornament in the Neoclassical style, the verso of each retaining a hand-written label reading "These pictures are very valuable / They are painted by Cooper / of Charles 2nd Nell Gwynn in / the time of Cromwell he also / painted a portrait of Cromwell / now in London."
