Late 18th century, both rectangular form with canted corners, and opening to twin compartments, and with later labels to underside, otherwise unmarked, the first in satinwood veneers with mixed wood perimeter inlays, framing floral marquetry inlays to the lid and obverse panels (5 x 7 1/2 x 4 1/2 in.); the second in mahogany veneers, with linear perimeter inlays framing shell marquetry to the lid and obverse, front corners with fluted columnar inlays (5 x 8 x 4 in.).

Now missing interior lids and interior corner brackets; the first with later lining; both with areas of veneer cracks and inlay loss; some small areas of veneer repair; both lids do not sit flush; without keys.
