Lot Details & Additional Photographs
(20) piece set, Walter Auman and Dorothy Cole Auman, turned art pottery with variegated green to blue green glazes, each inscribed "Seagrove" to the underside, comprising a large footed punch bowl (8 3/4 x 16 1/2 in. diameter) together with (19) cups (2 3/8 x 3 1/4 in.).

Private Collection, Raleigh, North Carolina

Walter and Dorothy represented a marriage of two well respected North Carolina pottery families, the Aumans and Coles. They bought a building on 220 just north of Seagrove and opened Seagrove Pottery. They devoted their efforts to their collective vision of pottery within the North Carolina art pottery tradition and founded the original Potters Museum. Dot was the turner, while Walter did the glazing, fired the kiln, and sold from their shop. They were tragically killed in 1991 by a timber truck that fell on their van.

Good estate condition.
