Matt Jones (Leister, NC, b. 1971), Dual Handled Pottery Jar

Alkaline glazed stoneware, semi-ovoid form with dual lug handles, incised "MATT JONES" signature to the underside, decorated in manganese runs emanating from the rim, mingling with glass runs from the handles, each side mounted with applied floral relief cartouche to the shoulder.

Jones Pottery is owned and operated by Matt and Christine Jones in the beautiful Big Sandy Mush valley of Leicester, North Carolina (just west of Asheville in Buncombe county). Edgefield pottery traditions as well as North Carolina pottery and historic Moravian ceramics are influences on Matt's oeuvre. His pottery has been featured in Ceramics Monthly magazine.
