Dated Taisho 13 (1924), ink and colors on paper, woodblock print, signed Hasui together with a red artist seal Kawase to lower left corner of print, presented under glass in Japanese frame with silk mat and black wood frame with rounded corners.
Frame dimensions 19 1/2 x 14 1/2 x 1/2 in.
Hasui Kawase was one of the leaders of the Shin Hanga movement in Japan. He focused on making prints that illustrated the beauty of Japan's natural landscapes with special emphasis on seasonal color and light effects of sunrise, sunset, rain and snow. He received the high honor of being named "A Living National Treasure" in 1956 for his contributions to the arts.
Overall even toning to margins; some loss and repair to corners from where they were previously positioned to a mat.
