Mathew Curran is an LA based artist who has developed a unique and personal style spanning multiple mediums. Drawing from his international roots and early influences in American teen culture, Curran's work focuses primarily on stencil art that captures the energy and vibrancy of street life. Born in England in 1979, Curran came to the United States as a teenager and studied fine art and graphic design at UNC Greensboro. Curran's post-college work has been defined by a style based on forceful lines and subtle uses of background color, allowing him to duplicate the intensity of street life in his depictions of distorted figures and industrial objects. He has been commissioned to create numerous murals for installations, from Art Basel in Miami to the Container Yard in Los Angeles to Duke University in Durham and CAM in Raleigh.
