Born in Baltimore, Richard Burnside moved to Greenville, South Carolina where he attended high school. He began painting while employed as a chef in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1983, he moved to Pendleton, South Carolina, where he resides. His well-known subjects include Ancient Kings and Queens and Jungle Cats.
